Over the years I have covered many stories about drug policy and drug culture. I have covered the renaissance in psychedelic drug therapy for both More 4 News, and BBC Newsnight. I was also one of the first UK TV reporters to cover the rise of ‘legal highs’ back in 2008.

For BBC Newsnight, I produced and directed this exclusive report about the conclusion of the first psychedelic drug treatment for depression in the UK. Individuals with serious and drug-resistant depression were given psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms. This is what happened. Reported by James Clayton.

MDMA therapy. This report from 2008 on More 4 News was the first piece on UK TV to examine the potential of MDMA (Ecstasy)-assisted psychotherapy to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

A fun report from Amsterdam for More 4 News on the irony of the tobacco ban in public places, which meant that coffee shops were able still to sell cannabis, but not tobacco any more. A personal favourite because of the many different visual jokes, and some brilliant Dutch characters.

Also for More 4 News, this was the first UK TV news piece to cover the growth in ‘legal highs’ – the synthetic cannabis substitutes that created a public health scare and were then banned a few years later.
